Safaricom last week officially launched its 5G services in selected parts of Kenya with customers in 5G-ready zones able to access 5G Wi-Fi services by buying an enabled router.
The move has opened the way for individuals and businesses to start considering acquiring the 5G Wi-Fi services as well as purchasing 5G smartphones to access the faster internet.
At the launch, however, Safaricom CEO Peter Ndegwa lamented over the restrictive high costs of 5G smartphones that was hampering distribution of 5G network and sites in Kenya.
To bridge this gap, Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi has been introducing into the Kenyan market a variety of affordable 5G phones in the mid-range and high-end segments.
You can walk into a Mi Store in Nairobi and purchase a host of Xiaomi 5G devices or you can take advantage of the Jumia Black Friday to get some irresistible deals in the Xiaomi Store.
