The Kenya Motor Sports Federation (KMSF) has discredited an unsigned press release, purportedly issued on August 28, 2024, claiming to represent the Federation.
In a strongly worded statement, KMSF clarified that the meeting held earlier on Wednesday at the Sikh Union Club was neither legitimate nor recognised by the official Board of the Federation.
The statement, issued by KMSF Chairman Maina Muturi, emphasised that the meeting "was not a bona fide KMSF Board and it did not meet the threshold of the meeting."
The gathering saw a dramatic moment when Jim Kahumbura, one of the attendees, "threw out the Company Secretaries," an incident that led to "some of the Directors" walking out "in protest."
Muturi reiterated his position as the rightful Chairman of the Federation, stating unequivocally, "The Chairman of KMSF remains to be Maina Muturi."
He further clarified that any alterations to the Motorsport Council and the KMSF Appeals Board are exclusively within the jurisdiction of the KMSF Board.
"Changes to the Motorsport Council and to the KMSF Appeals Board can only be carried out by the KMSF Board," Muturi affirmed, adding that "there have been no changes to those Councils or Boards."
To address the ongoing concerns and ensure proper governance, Muturi assured stakeholders that "a properly constituted Board Meeting and the AGM will be announced in due course."
The Kenya Motor Sports Federation remains committed to maintaining the integrity and transparency of its operations, and any attempts to undermine its leadership or decision-making processes will be firmly opposed.
