PASC Langa and Wiyeta Girls emerged victorious in a thrilling finale at the ASK Showground Nakuru, claiming the coveted title of the 2023 Safaricom Chapa Dimba Rift Valley Region champions.

In the boys' category, PASC Langa secured a 2-1 victory against defending champions Laiser Hill Academy from Kajiado County.

Samson Maina's 58th-minute strike and Benson Otieno's 67th-minute free kick were decisive, with Joseph Oduor managing a late consolation goal for Laiser Hill in the 89th minute.

Fredrick Owino, the Head coach of PASC Langa, expressed his joy at overcoming the defending champions.

"The match was really tough, keeping in mind we were playing against the defending champions," Owino stated.

"After today’s match, we will embark on our regular training as we know the task ahead to the national finals won’t be easy. Our aim is to win the national title."

Meanwhile, in the girls' finals, Wiyeta Girls secured a 1-0 victory against Trinity Mission Girls from Nakuru County.

Margy Melitus scored the lone and decisive goal in the 69th minute, expertly heading the ball into the net after a corner cross from Lorine Ilavonga.

Both PASC Langa and Wiyeta Girls have earned Sh250,000 and the opportunity to represent the Rift Valley region in the National finals next year.

The runners-up, Laiser Hill and Trinity Mission, will each receive Sh 150,000.

In addition to the team prizes, individual players were recognized.

The Most Valuable Player (MVP), Best Goalkeeper, and Top Scorer (boys and girls) each received Sh30,000.

Furthermore, each player from the winning teams took home a Neon Ultra phone, while runners-up received Neon Smarter Phones.

The Safaricom Chapa Dimba tournament, which aims to unearth and develop football talent, has successfully concluded its Rift Valley leg.

PASC Langa and Wiyeta Girls will now join other regional champions at the national finals next year.

The tournament not only emphasizes competition but also serves as a platform for scouts and coaches to discover new talent and build feeder systems for Kenyan football leagues.

Targeting footballers aged between 16 and 20 years old, the tournament also aims to train a total of 250 coaches.

With the Rift Valley Region chapter concluded, Safaricom Chapa Dimba now looks forward to the Eastern Region for the next round of exhilarating football action.
