The US Kids Nairobi Spring Local Tour featuring 152 boys and girls aged between five and 18 kicked off at the VetLab Sports Club on Sundaywith the young golfers competing in age-based categories.

The golf tournament is the first of eight events that will are scheduled to be held in seven clubs in the Nairobi Region climaxing in the tour championship on May 21, 2023 at the Muthaiga Golf Club.

Zandro Obiero carded the best score in the tournament of 36 gross to win in the Boys 7 Years Category, while Mohamed Mtsumi clinched the Boys 6 & Under Category with a score of 42 Gross.

Aarna Mengi carried the day in the Girls 8 and Under with a score of 37 gross, while Nyawira Macharia clinched the Girls 9-10 with a score of 45 gross.

Jeff Kibe led the Boys 8 Years Old with a score of 48 gross, while Boys 9 Year Old was led by Adam Nesbitt with 38 gross, as Gitonga Gitobu carded a similar score to win the Boys 10 Years Category.

Amar Shah carded in 78 gross to clinch the Boys 11 Years Category, while Marya Nyambura took home the Girls 11-12 Years Category with a score of 91 gross.

Aidan Gachora swung to victory in the Boys 12 Category with a score of 79 gross, as Belinda Wanjiru carried the day in the Girls 13-14 Years with a score of 82 gross.

Krish Shah was the victor in the Boys 15-18 Years category with 82 gross, as Hazel Kuria beat Antonia Mbuthia on play-off to carry the Girls 15-18 Years Category after getting the same score of 94 gross.

Maahir Patel carded 77 gross to sail to victory in the most competitive group of Boys 13-14 Years Old followed closely by Shashwat Harish and Nathan Mwangi, who tied on second place with 78 gross.

Junior Golf Foundation (JGF) Board President Regina Gachora graced the event flanked by Regional Representatives James Ondigo from Nairobi Region and Elizabeth Wambi from Western Region

Other Regional Reps present were Dr Kimeli Mutai from North Rift Region, Nancy Steinmann from Central Rift Region, Mary Mariga from Coast Region and Baldev Singh from Mt Kenya Region.

The next US Kids Nairobi Spring Local Tour golf event is slated for Saturday February 18, 2023 at the Karen Country Club.
