Gor Mahia coach Manuel Vaz Pinto has resigned just as the team is preparing for the FKF Premier League.

Gor Mahia Club announced his exit through the club's official Twitter handle this Saturday morning.

"Coach Manuel Vaz Pinto has parted ways with the club on mutual consent. We appreciate your work and wish you all the best Pinto," read the tweet.

The coach who resigned just last night cited personal reasons and unpalatable times at the club for his resignation.

Pinto became Kogallo’s coach at the beginning of the season and had taken them through to win the FKF cup in a match against their arch-rival AFC Leopards last week.

Kogallo also rose to the 4th position on the FKF Premier League table under coach Pinto after playing 23 games from which they accumulated 39 points. 

It is not yet clear where Pinto is headed after his stint at Kogallo but rumour has it that he has gone back home to work with a second-tier club; CD National.

Pinto’s departure will affect negatively the club that is already having enough troubles on its plate.

The team’s assistant coach Sammy Omollo is expected to take over the team and see them through the remaining part of the season.

The team has been faced with grim financial strife working on a limited budget that has left the team owing players and technical bench salaries.
