The National Olympic Committe of Kenya (NOC-K) chairman Paul Tergat has said the body was investigating claims that 1500 meters athlete Etyang Kamar was kicked out of the team Kenya is sending to the Tokyo 2021 Olympics. 

Tergat issued an official statement only hours after Kamar went on social media lamenting that he had been kicked out of Team Kenya despite emerging second in the Olympic trials.

In the statement, Tergat confirmed the athlete was in the residential bubble camp on Sunday and was training with the rest of the athletes going to Tokyo.

he also indicated that the matter was being investigated expeditiously and appropriate action shall be taken if anyone is found culpable for Kamar's claims.

Similarly, Tergat added that NOC-Kwas in talks with Athletics Kenya to resolve the matter that has seen the body receive massive backlash on social media.

Tergat is Kenya's former professional long distance runner credited as the first Kenyan to set the world record in the the marathon clocking 2:04:55 in 2003.
