In a statement, FKF said he left the national team together with a part of his technical bench.
“The federation is immensely grateful to Coach Kimanzi and his departing members of staff that include Assistant Coach Zedekiah Otieno and Goalkeeper Trainer Lawrence Webo for their exemplary work, dedication and unrivalled professionalism, which has strengthened Kenya’s chances of qualifying for the AFCON 2022 final tournament,” read the statement in part.
The FKF statement signed by FKF CEO Barry Otieno also indicated that the federation will desist from making further comment until a new coach is appointed in the coming weeks.
Kimanzi coached Stars in from November 2008 to January 2009 and again from November 2011 to June 2012, while his assistant Zico had a stint from December 2010 to December 2011.
He headed the Stars last week when they humbled Zambia 2-1 in an international friendly at the Nyayo International Stadium.
This comes days after Nicholas Mwendwa won a second four-year term as FKF president and as football action is resuming in Kenya after a break occasioned by the Covid-19 pandemic.
