Harambee Stars goalkeeper Patrick Matasi has broken his silence days after being involved in a grisly car accident.
Matasi is still admitted at Kakamega County and General Hospital (KCGH) where he is still receiving treatment and recuperating well.
He, however, might spend more days at the facility as doctors advised the family to let him extend his stay there for further monitoring.

The family was headed to Nairobi from Kakamega when the car they were traveling in rolled several times after hitting a pothole and bursting one of its tyres making the driver lose control of the vehicle.
“I thank God for saving my life, that of my wife and my son, the car was being driven by my cousin when the accident occurred,” recalled Matasi, whose wounds on the forehead and left cheek appeared to be healing fast.

According to Matasi, he is a happy man knowing that no lives were lost in the unfortunate incident.
“I feel much better and energetic although in the morning I had to be checked after developing some mild complications, the doctors say I am recuperating well and that is what matters the most.”
However, Matasi’s wife and son will be undergoing surgery something that has been giving the goalkeeper headache.

“I am happy they are responding well to treatment, but I appeal for financial help from Kenyans in settling the hospital bill.
I will appreciate it if President Uhuru Kenyatta, the football association, Governor Wycliffe Oparanya and all other well-wishers stepped in to help me,” said Matasi.
