Japanese club Kashiwa Reysol is reported to have accepted about Sh800 million for a move by Michael Olunga from the club for Qatar Star League champions Al-Duhail SC.

Al-Duhail SC have had their eyes set on the 26-year-old Harambee Stars forward for a while now with his recent top scoring performance in the J-League proving an icing on the cake.

The Qatari club is expected to engage Olunga alias ‘Engineer’ and his handlers in talks over his expected move, remunerations and the modalities involved.

Reports indicate that Reysol had demanded close to Sh1 billion for any team interested in Olunga, who was the 2020 J1 League Player of the Year and Golden Boot winner.

The Kenyan reportedly earns Sh85 million annually at Reysol since moving to Japan two years ago and scored 27 goals and provided nine assists and propelled the team to clinch the second-tier J2 League in 2019.

Olunga is poised to become the second Kenyan international to play in Qatar’s topflight football league after Dennis Oliech who turned out for Al-Arabi from 2003 to 2005.
