Daniel Nduva clinched the inaugural leg of the Professional Golfers of Kenya (PGK) Equator Tour to become the man of the moment in the weekend.
The Team Visa star walked off the 18th green at Ruiru Sports Club with the winner’s smile while tucking the first-ever PGK Equator Tour title in his pocket.
After four grueling rounds and 72 holes of top-tier golf, Nduva finished 18-under par, holding off fierce competition from David Wakhu and Njoroge Kibugu.
The tournament, which teed off on July 3 and ended July 6, brought together Kenya’s finest pro golfers and rising stars in what turned out to be a dramatic showcase of talent and grit.
The field was trimmed after 36 holes, with only 20 pros and one amateur - young Manji Juniad from Sigona Golf Club - making the cut.

The 2025 PGK Equator Tour has lined up 11 thrilling tournaments across Kenya’s premier courses, with a grand finale scheduled for Muthaiga Golf Club in February 2026.
The tour is designed to:
• Help players earn Kenya Open 2026 slots
• Offer a path to the 2028 Olympics
• Provide real-world experience in high-stakes competition
• Grow local golfing talent and strengthen Kenya’s global golf credentials
In the corporate side of the tour, Team Visa surged ahead early with Nduva’s win and Mike Kisia’s top 10 finish giving them top points among Kenyan blue-chip firms backing the PGK.
Teams from Safaricom, NCBA Group, Kenya Airways, Britam, and EABL are also on the tee box, each represented by seasoned pros and hungry young players daring on the greens.
Safaricom’s Golf Captain Lead Eric Mugo lauded the telco’s corporate team for their attempt at Ruiru glory even as only one of our four, Samuel Chege Njoroge, made the final cut.
“We’re fully behind the team as we prepare for the next stop at Limuru Country Club, from July 24 to 27,” said Mugo.
PGK Chairman John Wangai lauded all the golfers taking part in the significant tour and their level of play and professionalism during the inaugural event at Ruiru Sports Club.
“This event has set a new benchmark and I’m confident we’re seeing a new generation of champions rising,” intimated Wangai.
He added: “We’re not just playing golf; we’re building a sporting future for Kenya.”
