Boxing legend Mike Tyson has admitted that he smoked marijuana right before his fight with Roy Jones Jr on Saturday as he made a comeback to the boxing ring at the age of 54.

Tyson made the admission during a press conference held after the much-anticipated fight that saw the champion return to the boxing ring after 15 years.

“Absolutely, yes,” he said.

The fight between Tyson and Jones Jr ended in a draw after eight rounds in the exhibition match scored by three former WBC champions and held at Staples Center in Los Angeles, USA.

Tyson said after the bout that he smoked cannabis sativa before and again after the fight.

“I can’t stop smoking. I just have to smoke. I’m sorry. I smoke every day. I never stopped smoking,” the former heavyweight champion told journalists after the fight.

He got away with smoking a joint since because it was an exhibition match and the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association tested him for performance-enhancing drugs before the fight.

“It’s just who I am. It has no effect on me from a negative standpoint. It’s just what I do and how I am and how I’m going to die,” he added.

The boxing icon who fell from grace to grass, however, looked fit as he fought Jones Jr even as the latter kept Tyson busy for most of the match that ended in a draw that they both accepted.

He assured his fans that he had learnt his lessons in the past after squandering all of his $685 million made in his heyday and promised to spend cash earned from Saturday’s bout wisely.

“I am not here for my ego. My ego is taking the money, buying some planes, some nice houses, packing up a bunch of chicks and have some orgies and stuff.

“This is not who that is right now. That guy was just somebody that had to be. Eventually, he was a platform to become me.”

He added that he was now focused on his family, pigeons, clothes and marijuana after he in 2017 opened the Tyson Ranch, where marijuana is grown and sold.

Tyson said he would return to the ring again and is eyeing a rematch with Roy Jones Jr or top heavyweights led by Anthony Joshua, Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder.
