Motorists using Haile Selassie Roundabout on Uhuru Highway should brace for temporary traffic disruptions as the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) embarks on the construction of a pedestrian underpass at the busy junction.
KeNHA has announced that the road works will commence on Monday and are expected to continue until 7 April 2025. The authority has urged road users to adhere to the proposed traffic management plan and cooperate with police officers and traffic marshals stationed at the site.
“The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) would like to inform the public of a temporary traffic disruption at Haile Selassie Roundabout on Uhuru Highway Road,” the agency stated.
"This traffic disruption is due to scheduled road works for construction of a pedestrian underpass at the section which will commence from Monday, March 3, 2025, to Monday, April 7, 2025. "
According to KeNHA, the disruption is necessary to facilitate the construction of the underpass, which is expected to improve pedestrian safety and enhance traffic flow in the area.
