Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Monday morning arrested a man who was filmed torturing a suspected offender in a video that went viral.
Swabir Abdulrazaq Mohamed, 33, who works as a security guard at the Ajab Unga Factory located in Shimanzi, Mombasa County, went into hiding on learning he was being sought by police.
However, DCI detectives were able to track him down and arrested following a tip off from the members of the public through the DCI anonymous call centre.
According to DCI, Abdulrazaq tortured the unidentified victim for allegedly trespassing into the factory’s compound using the blaming drops of a burning mosquito net while whipping him using a plastic pipe.
The said victim, who had his hands tied together and his neck tied on an electricity pole using a rope, screamed and begged for mercy as the Abdulrazak continues unmoved.

The victim is said to be a street urchin who usually begs on the streets of Mombasa town and Abdulrazaq alleges that he handed over the victim to two police officers later.
However, DCI says no such report was filed at any police station in Mombasa on the said day, with police now looking for the victim to file record his statement and side of the story.
Abdulrazaq is expected to be arraigned in Mombasa on Tuesday and charged with grievous bodily harm as well as a possible attempted murder charge.
Detectives have early this morning arrested the man who was captured in a widely circulated video clip, torturing a suspected offender.
