Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) has confirmed that the port in Mombasa is working to full capacity despite the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic ravaging the country.
KPA made the affirmation on Monday, saying as the country celebrates the Easter weekend, the Mombasa port has continued to deliver cargo and serve all clients.
The authority said the country’s main port was operating at almost 90 per cent berth capacity and vessels were discharging and loading containers and conventional cargo.
“Operations are in full gear at the Port of Mombasa at 90 percent berth occupancy with vessels currently discharging/ loading in container and conventional cargo berths,” KPA tweeted on Sunday.

Transportation has been affected in Nairobi, Machakos, Kiambu, Kajiado and Nakuru counties following a presidential order on cessation of movement by air, road and sea to tame the fast spread of the fresh wave of Coronavirus.
The order by President Uhuru Kenyatta, alongside that of closing bars and restaurants, has affected movement of persons and cargo in the zoned counties as well as movement of local and foreign tourists into and out of the country.
