ODM Party Leader Raila Odinga has for the first time spoken publicly about his battle against Covid-19, days after he tested negative for the virus.

He narrated that he tested negative after three Coronavirus tests were conducted following his self-isolation at home for the past three weeks after he was released from hospital.

But during a press briefing with President Uhuru Kenyatta at State House Nairobi, Raila narrated what he underwent in the three weeks he was down with Coronavirus was forced out of action as he stayed in self-isolation at his home in Karen, Nairobi.

“First, when I was admitted at Nairobi Hospital, they put me on a certain drug that they were administering intravenously for the first 5 days. And when they stopped that drug, then when I went back they resumed a mixture, more of herbal drugs that I received. Secondly, I have been steaming a lot in the evening. I was on oxygen for a while then eventual they weaned me out of the oxygen….when my levels were 90 and above. But it is a process, and one just has to be astute and disciplined, and follow the advice of the doctors.”

Raila looked frail and spoke with slight difficulty earlier when he accompanied President Kenyatta to officially open the road linking the Inland Container Depot (ICD) with the Southern Bypass in Nairobi on Thursday.

Raila said he sympathized with majority of Kenyans who are adversely affected by the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic and counter-measures in the country, saying something will be done soon.

He spoke after also visiting the new Green Park Terminus that was recently completed by the Nairobi Metropolitan Services.
