South Mugirango Member of Parliament Silvanus Osoro was on Monday charged with malicious damage to property during the Kiamokama Ward by-election on Thursday.
Jointly with others, not before court, the MP was charged with vandalising the windscreen, doors and windows of a car belonging to Peter Karanja Njuguna, all valued at Sh200,000.
The MP appeared before Kisii Chief Magistrate Nathan Shiundu, where he denied the charge and was freed on a bond of Sh100,000 and a surety of a similar amount or a Sh50,000 cash bail.
The case will be mentioned on March 22.
He was arrested after surrendering at Kisii Central Police Station on Monday, after hiding from police since Thursday when he was linked to alleged violence and voter bribery in Kiamokama Ward.
