Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) issued a public advisory on Saturday confirming the disruption of the Mbogolo Bridge on the Mtwapa-Kilifi (A7) Road.
The unfortunate closure is attributed to the persistent heavy rains currently afflicting the region, leading to severe flooding.
The resultant closure has major implications for the vital transportation corridor to and from Mombasa, causing inconvenience for commuters and logistical challenges for businesses.
"The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) informs the public that Mbogolo Bridge on Mtwapa - Kilifi (A7) Road has been cut off," KeNHA notice read.

KeNHA officials were quick to respond, urging motorists to adopt the Mombasa-Mazeras-Kaloleni-Mavueni-Kilifi Road as an alternative route during the bridge closure.
The ongoing inclement weather has prompted KeNHA to prioritize the construction of a new bridge in the affected area, forming a crucial component of the broader Kwa Kadzengo-Kilifi Road Project.
This initiative is aimed at fortifying the region's infrastructure and improving connectivity.
"Currently, a new bridge is being constructed in this area as part of the Kwa Kadzengo-Kilifi Road Project," KeNHA said.
Assuring the public of their commitment to restoring normalcy, KeNHA has deployed staff to the site to oversee the restoration of traffic passage through the affected section of the road.
KeNHA emphasized the importance of caution during this period, stating, "Motorists are asked to exercise restraint as efforts are made to restore traffic flow."
The suggested alternate route not only offers a practical solution for the current disruption but also serves as a testament to the resilience and adaptability of the Kenyan road network.
Commuters are advised to stay informed about the situation through official channels and to adhere to any additional guidelines provided by KeNHA as the situation evolves.
In the face of this challenge, KeNHA remains committed to efficiently addressing the bridge closure, exemplifying the organization's dedication to maintaining a robust and responsive national infrastructure.
