Sport Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed’s brother died on Monday.

Businessman Esmael Mohammed Jibril passed away while being treated in India after he complained that he was unwell.

Among those who have sent their condolences include President Uhuru Kenyatta, Deputy President William Ruto, ODM leader Raila Odinga, ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi among others. 

Kenyatta eulogised the late Jibril as a motivated and gifted entrepreneur who created jobs for many Kenyans.

“As a country, we will forever owe a debt of gratitude to Mohamed for his role in making Kenya a better economy and especially for the job opportunities he created for our people through his successful commercial interests,” said Kenyatta.

“Jibril was a highly respected, accomplished, innovative and visionary entrepreneur who made an immense contribution not just to Kenya but Africa as a whole,” said Dr Ruto.

And Odinga posted, “Kenya has lost an astute, hardworking and well established businessman with interests in a wide array of sectors. Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un.”

“It is never easy losing a sibling. Take heart that he is now in a better place. May his soul rest in peace,” said Mudavadi.

The late Jibril Mohamed founded Jibram Investments Limited and the Java Coffee House chain.

In 2018, CS Amina one of his nine siblings, a brother, at the Meridian Hospital in Nairobi West, where he was admitted after a short illness.
