Nairobi City County’s Innovation and Digital Economy Sector and Public Service Sub-Sector Staff recently led a comprehensive staff data collection exercise in collaboration with Health, Wellness, and Nutrition employees at the Pumwani Maternity Hospital.
The exercise was conducted under the stewardship of the Chief Officers Tiras Njoroge (SMART City) & Janet Opiata (Public Service Management).
According to Ms. Janet Opiata, the data collection drive is not confined to Pumwani Maternity Hospital alone.
"This exercise will also be conducted at the County's big four health facilities, namely Pumwani, MLK, Mbagathi, and Mutuini, until Friday, 3rd November 2023. On the 7th and 8th of November, the exercise will be conducted at City Hall for any Nairobi City County Government (NCCG) staff who missed out during Phase 1," Opiata stated.
Lilian Maina, NCCG Director of Human Resources said the initiative is in preparation for the issuance of staff identification cards, a process slated for finalization this month.

"The exercise involves taking current photos and fingerprints, a pivotal step led by the NCCG Staff ID Committee comprising members from Innovation and Digital Innovation (IDE), Public Service Management (PSM), and Inclusivity," she added.
Maina emphasized the critical nature of the biometric registration process, ensuring that Nairobians can readily identify county staff, especially those operating in the field.
"The issuance of the staff identification cards will also aid in eliminating imposters who have been exploiting Nairobians," she highlighted.
On Wednesday, the team commenced the same data collection exercise at the Mama Lucy Kibaki hospital, continuing their efforts to cover various key healthcare facilities across the county.
The meticulous data collection and biometric registration underline the county's commitment to enhancing accountability, efficiency, and security within the Nairobi City County administration, benefiting both staff and the residents they serve.
