In a shocking turn of events, three suspects have been apprehended in connection with the brutal murder of a local businessman, Ibrahim Ondeko, on July 3, 2023.

The incident, which transpired in Ebuyalu village, Vihiga County, has sent shockwaves through the community, leaving residents in fear and mourning.

Ibrahim Ondeko, 27, had just finished closing his shop for the night, accompanied by his wife, when tragedy struck. The assailants, who were armed with machetes and concealed their identities with balaclavas, launched a sudden and brutal attack.

His wife, who miraculously survived, suffered a severe injury to her left arm in the assault.

Describing the horrifying encounter, the 23-year-old survivor recounted, "We had just closed our shop and were headed home when the men who had their faces covered attacked us. One of them came after me with a machete, and as I shielded myself, he struck my left arm almost dismembering it."

Fortunately, the victimized woman's screams in the heavy rain drew the attention of patrolling police officers, who swiftly arrived at the scene.

However, the attackers had already fled, leaving behind the lifeless body of Ibrahim Ondeko in a pool of blood.

The investigation into this heinous crime was promptly initiated, leading to the deployment of detectives from the elite Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau.

These investigators meticulously combed the crime scene and interviewed witnesses, gathering vital evidence that would eventually lead to the breakthrough.

On Thursday, within Yala Township in Siaya County, the relentless efforts of the law enforcement officers bore fruit as they arrested three suspects: Ibra Amos, 23, Dickson Munala, 28, and Sypros Omondi. Notably, some of the deceased's belongings were found in their possession.

The suspects are set to face charges of murder, as per Section 203 of the penal code, read with Section 204.
