Safaricom Foundation, the corporate social responsibility arm of Safaricom PLC, has announced its commitment to invest Sh170 million in community projects that will benefit over 1.6 million Kenyans nationwide.
The funds will be disbursed through the Foundation's sustainable philanthropy programs, namely Ndoto Zetu, Pamoja, and Usamaria, focusing on health, education, and economic empowerment.
In an effort to empower individuals and enable them to bring their dreams and aspirations to life, Safaricom Foundation's Ndoto Zetu program has entered its fifth phase.

The Foundation has allocated Sh100 million towards this initiative, with submissions open from 12th July 2023 until 11th August 2023.
Expressing his enthusiasm about the impact of the Ndoto Zetu program, Peter Ndegwa, CEO of Safaricom PLC, stated, "The transformation we have seen since the inception of Ndoto Zetu affirms that Kenyans are very passionate about positively impacting their communities. Each dream we help fulfil translates to thousands of lives being uplifted, that is why we are keen to continue partnering with Kenyans to transform lives."
Apart from Ndoto Zetu, Safaricom Foundation has set aside Sh50 million for its Pamoja Scheme, which allows Safaricom staff members to engage in community projects of their choice within the communities they serve.
Additionally, Sh20 million has been earmarked for Usamaria, an initiative that supports patients from economically disadvantaged backgrounds by covering their medical bills in public hospitals.
Over the years, Safaricom Foundation has consistently invested in community projects.
Since 2019, it has injected Sh271 million into more than 1400 Ndoto Zetu initiatives focused on education, health, and economic empowerment.
These investments have positively impacted the lives of over 1.9 million Kenyans.
In the recently concluded fourth phase, the Foundation funded 392 projects worth Sh100 million, bringing about significant improvements in the lives of over 700,000 individuals.
To participate in the Ndoto Zetu program, interested Kenyans can submit their written proposals through the Ndoto Zetu portal or visit any Safaricom Retail Shop to fill out an application form.
