The executive council chairman of the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition, Wycliffe Oparanya has announced that they will resume anti-government protests on Tuesday.
In a statement issued on Monday, Oparanya said the decision to resume the protests was made in response to the failure of the Kenya Kwanza coalition to commit to constructive bipartisan talks aimed at addressing Azimio’s demands.
Oparanya noted that the Kenya Kwanza coalition has shown no willingness to address the demands of Azimio La Umoja, including the high cost of living.
He accused Kenya Kwanza of spreading propaganda about decreased costs, despite evidence to the contrary.
“It is therefore a mockery of the envisaged dialogue to have him at the negotiation table for Kenya Kwanza,” the statement read in part.

“Kenya Kwanza has also shown no commitment to lowering the cost of basic goods, including unga, fuel, electricity and school fees.”
Moreover, Oparanya claimed that Kenya Kwanza has attempted to include members who are aligned with Azimio La Umoja, which goes against the principles of multi-party democracy in the country.
Oparanya cited the addition of Edlas MP Adan Keynan to the Kenya Kwanza delegation team as an example, clarifying that Keynan legally remains an MP on the Azimio La Umoja ticket.
"Legally, Hon. Adan Keynan remains an MP on Azimio ticket," he said.
He reiterated that Azimio’s commitment to an extra-parliamentary dialogue that is honest, transparent, meaningful, and bipartisan in conception and execution.
However, the protests, Oparanya said, will be limited only to Nairobi.
