Capital FM Commercial Director Farida Idris Mohamed has been charged with seven counts of threatening to kill her ex-boyfriend and former business partner, Hussein Alla Amaro.

Farida appeared in court on Tuesday before Chief Magistrate Lucas Onyina to answer the charges, where she denied all the counts.

According to court documents, on various dates in June 2019, the Capital Group Limited boss sent threatening messages to Amaro via Safaricom line numbers.

The first count alleges that on June 14, 2019, at an unknown location in Kenya, Farida sent Amaro a message stating, "Now tell me what the f*** you will do to me...and you see...I will finish you and bloody Swarna combined," threatening to kill him.

The second count states that on June 15, 2019, at an unknown location in Kenya, Mohamed sent Amaro a message reading, "TRY ME ONE MORE TIME U IDIOT SEND ONE MORE PERSON TO ME AND I WILL BURRY YOU ALIVE WITH MY TWO HANDS TAKA TAKA MALAYA UMBWA," also threatening to kill him.

The third count alleges that on June 14, 2019, at an unknown location in Kenya, she again sent Amaro a message stating, "will kill you and if I get that swarna you have been f****** while you were with me and still f****** every day...she will know who I am then the two (2) of you can continue f****** in HELL."

The fourth count states that on June 14, 2019, at an unknown location in Kenya, Mohamed sent Amaro a message reading, "I WILL KILL YOU WITH MY HANDS AND DRAG YOUR BODY ON HOT TARMAC UNTIL NOBODY CAN RECOGNIZE THAT ROTTEN BODY OF YOURS THEN BURRY YOU BEFORE YOU PROCEED TO HELL."

The fifth count alleges that on June 15, 2019, at an unknown location in Kenya, Mohamed sent Amaro a message stating, "U TAKA TAKA U WANT TO TALK TO MY UNCLE ABDUL PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHEN YOU ARE READY. WE WILL FINISH YOU TOGETHER!!! I WILL SEND YOU HIS NUMBER IF YOU ARE A MAN WITH TWO B*** CALL HIM!! IT WILL MAKE IT EASIER FOR THE TWO OF US TO KILL YOU TOGETHER."

The sixth count states that on June 14, 2019, at an unknown location in Kenya, Mohamed sent Amaro a message reading, "U DON'T KNOW HOW HE IS WAITING TO DRIVE OVER YOUR HEAD BODY."

All of the messages were sent via Safaricom line numbers, with Farida identified as the sender.

She has been charged with violating Section 223(1) of the Penal Code, Cap 63 laws of Kenya, which prohibits threatening to kill another person without lawful excuse.

Through her lawyer Peter Wanyama, Farida pleaded with the court to release her on lenient bail terms and promised to abide by them.

"The accused and the complainant were in a relationship for a period of nine years. They broke up in 2019. The said offence was committed in 2019 and the accused is being charged more than four years later. They were in a business with the complainant," Wanyama said..

"The allegations of threatening to kill were committed in 2019 when the emotions of the accused person were high due to the separation, it is now four years and everyone has moved on."

The prosecution did not oppose the application but asked the court to direct her to cease sending any more messages to Amaro.

At the same time, the prosecution said it was unaware of any arbitrary arrangement of the matter, as Farida's lawyer claimed.

Amaro's lawyer Charles Gitonga noted the gravity of the charges against Farida, emphasizing her close relationship with Amaro.

Gitonga also requested that Farida be barred from contacting the complainant and witnesses, and urged the court to consider Amaro's four-year pursuit of justice in determining bond terms.

"These are very serious offenses from people who know each other well. She is a Commercial Director at Capital FM News and should be restrained from any contact with the complainant or any of the witnesses," Gitonga told the court.

"My client has been chasing justice for the last four years and we are praying that the bond terms reflect those years my client has been seeking justice."

Farida was granted release on a bond of Sh300,000 or Sh100,000 cash bail by the court, pending the hearing and determination of the case.
