The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has made a public apology for linking unrelated images to Raila Odinga's Monday anti-government demonstrations.

The DCI explained in a statement shared on its social media accounts that the images used in its post were meant to appeal for information on the whereabouts of the said criminals who were involved in criminal acts.

"The Directorate of Criminal Investigations wishes to unreservedly apologize to the public for the mix-up of images in yesterday’s communication, which was meant to appeal for information regarding the whereabouts of criminal suspects involved in Monday’s illegal demonstrations," the DCI said.

The directorate also claimed the overwhelming information and reports  it received through its 'Fichua Kwa DCI' online platform caused the mixup.

The mix-up was partly occasioned by the overwhelming information that we had received via the #FichuakwaDCI online platform regarding the reported incidents of violence," the DCI said.

While working on damage contorl and maintaining public confidence in our operations, the DCI appeled to the public for information regarding the whereabouts of the suspects whose images they shared.
