The National Police Service handed over its proposals to the former Chief Justice David Maraga-led National Taskforce on Improvement of the Terms and Conditions of Service and other Reforms of the National Police and Kenya Prisons Service.

On Monday, the Inspector General of Police, Japhet Koome, presented NPS proposals to Maraga during an event held at the Bomas of Kenya in Nairobi.

While addressing the taskforce chaired by Koome, highlighted critical challenges police officers face in the execution of their duties and thus hampering efficient and effective service delivery to the public.

Koome appealed to the taskforce to visit all parts of the country and seek further submissions and views from members of NPS on the ground.

Maraga outlined the objectives of the National Taskforce, which include identifying the constraints on effective service delivery by NPS and Prisons Services and reviewing and recommending improvements to the terms and conditions of service.

During the event, the IG also gave taskforce members a tour while police officers from various NPS units displayed their work tools and equipment.

Also present were the DIG-KPS, Mr. Edward Mbugua, Principal Assistant to the DIG-APS, James Akoru, SAIG, and the Deputy Director DCI, Nicholas Kamwende, and NPS Directors and other officers of all ranks.
