June Chepkemei has been appointed by as the Managing Director of the Kenya Investment Authority (KenInvest) in acting capacity.
Until her appointment to KenInvest, June had been the head of Marketing and Communications at the Konza Technopolis Development Authority (KOTDA).
She was picked by Investment, Trade and Industry CS Moses Kuria to lead strategies that will grow investments to Kenya from current USD500 million to USD10 billion by end of 2023.
The parastatal promotes and facilitates local and foreign investment by creating a favorable environment, bankable opportunities and also offers aftercare services to investors.
KenInvest leverages Kenya’s strategic location as regional financial, communication and transport hub, political and macro-stability, highly skilled human resource, and a vibrant capital market, to sell it as an investment hub.

In 2022, June led Kenya’s team in a successful bid to host the 41st International Association of Science Parks and Areas of Innovation (IASP) world conference that is slated for 2024.
The communications professional was also part of the Kenyan team that was tasked with delivering the Technology and Innovation themed Jamhuri Day in 2022.
She also served as a member of the Taskforce on the Kenya Media Policy Guidelines, after being appointed by ICT, Innovation and Youth Affairs Cabinet Secretary Joe Mucheru in 2021.
June Chepkemei was named among the Top 25 Women in Digital 2021.
She initiated the Konza Innovation Ecosystem Initiative that fosters commercialization of research, innovation and development of new solutions and enterprises within the technopolis.
The initiative was voted the third most inspiring solution by the IASP and it has seen more than 100 enterprises launched.
In 2017, June was appointed as the Project Coordinator for a New Institute of Strategic National Importance: Kenya Advance Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) developed by Ministry of ICT & Digital Economy in partnership with The Ministry of Education (MoE).
Before joining KoTDA, she was the Communications Business Partner at Safaricom Limited, after working in the media for six years in which she rose from an intern to Business Editor.
June holds a Master’s degree in Communication Studies from Moi University, a Bachelor’s Degree in PR & Communications from Moi University, Postgraduate Diploma in Professional Marketing, from The Chartered Institute of Marketing of the UK and an executive certificate on Innovation from Stanford Centre For Professional Development.
She is a Chartered Marketer by the Charted Institute of Marketing (CIM), UK.
