A pedestrian was killed dead while scores sustained injuries following a morning accident that occurred near Safaricom HQ along Waiyaki Way, Nairobi.

The accident happened when a PCEA Mathare church bus was ferrying mourners lost control and hit three pedestrians; killing one on the spot and leaving two others with serious injuries before overturning.

52 passengers who were on board the ill-fated bus got trapped momentarily in the bus before rescue operations started.


Nairobi County Police Commander Adamson Bungei confirmed the incident and said the casualties were transferred to various city health facilities for treatment.

Among the people who sustained serious injuries include the driver who is also receiving treatment.

The body of the deceased was later moved to the City Mortuary.

Authorities have launched an investigation to establish what exactly caused the accident.
