There was a heavy traffic jam on Thika Superhighway at the Allsops/GSU section following an accident that involved two Public Service Vehicles.
One matatu, a 63 seater overturned at that section of the superhighway after colliding with a 33 seater blocking two inbound lanes and causing a massive traffic jam.
Traffic police officers and Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) officials arrived at the scene and a rescue mission to get passengers trapped in the overturned matatu began.
The cause of the morning accident is yet to be established; however, some members of the public have noted that the section of the road where the accident happened has a speed limit of 50KPH which clearly may have been exceeded.

No deaths or serious injuries have been reported yet from the incident as police have not issued an official statement.
Motorists headed towards Nairobi's CBD were advised to use alternative routes to their destinations.
