An operation conducted by a multi-agency team comprising detectives and Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) officials in Kiambu County led to the arrest of four suspects in connection to the running of an illegal distillery in Kiambaa.
The arrests come as the authorities have intensified the fight against illegal distilleries, counterfeit alcoholic products and tax evasion.
During the operation, four suspects identified as Stephen Ngugi, Amos Maina, James Nyaga and George Kariuki were arrested.
Police also seized a consignment of alcoholic drinks affixed with fake KRA stamps.

Also recovered during the operation were a roll of fake KRA staff, distillation equipment and chemicals believed to be used in the production of counterfeit alcoholic drinks.
Cartons and bottles of popular brands of alcoholic drinks such as Trace Vodka and Chrome Vodka were also recovered.
The operation follows a recent directive by His Excellency President William Ruto to police, to conduct intelligence-led operations targeting counterfeit goods.
The move was informed after the authorities discovered that unscrupulous businessmen had devised ways of tax evasion.
