Police have arrested four suspects in connection to the mysterious murder of popular model and LGBTQ activist Edwin Kiprotich Kiptoo alias Chiloba whose body was found stashed in a metallic box along Kipenyo-Katinga road in Eldoret Town, Uasin Gishu County.

Police first arrested the prime suspect by the name of Jacktone Odhiambo.

Odhiambo, a freelance photographer who is known to be a close associate of Chiloba’s and roommate was arrested and taken to Langas Police Station in Eldoret.

Odhiambo is reported to have confessed to killing Chiloba after he discovered Chiloba was in an intimate relationship with another person.

This revelation brings the love triangle angle to the murder incident.

On Sunday, police also arrested two high school students and another 19-year-old suspect in connection to Chiloba’s murder.

The three are believed to have helped Odhiambo to move the metallic box that was used to stash Chiloba’s body from the scene of the crime to the place it was dumped.

Confirming the arrests, police spokesperson Resila Atieno said the names of the school-going minors and the names of their schools were withheld to protect their interest.

"Police officers from DCI Eldoret South have today arrested the suspects: a schoolboy aged 17-year-old, a 19-year-old man, and another male high school student. In the child's best interest, their names and the names of schools are omitted here," Atieno stated.

"The three assisted the main suspect Jacktone Omondi, in carrying the box moving it from the scene to the vehicle make Toyota Fielder. The vehicle is detained and suspects are in police custody.”

According to reports by their neighbours, Chiloba and Odhiambo quarrelled over an unknown matter after going back to their house at around 3 am after a night out on new year’s eve.

Police are still interrogating the suspects before having them arraigned in court for the crime.
