The third Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Commissioner in the besieged 'Cherera Four' team Francis Wanderi has resigned.

Wanderi Resigned on Thursday, days after President William Ruto suspended them from office and after his fellow commissioners, Justus Nyanga’aya and Juliana Cherera resigned.

In his resignation letter to the president, Wanderi accused the IEBC chairperson Wafula Chebukati of what he termed as high-handedness, being a dictator and lacking in good corporate governance principles.

Wanderi maintained he was not guilty of the allegations levelled against him and that was not the reason for his resignation but patriotism.

"As I tender my resignation today, I do so not because I am guilty of the allegations levelled against me by the petitioners, but because there comes a time when the country is more important than any individual, including my own aspirations as a Kenyan to see our democratic process mirror those of advanced democracies," Wanderi said.

The commissioner said nothing much will change in IEBC, nor will their removal help the country achieve its democratic and electoral reforms objective.

Irene Maist is the only IEBC commissioner from the group who is yet to resign amid reports she has tendered her resignation.

Her lawyer Donald Kipkorir refuted the claims and said his client will not resign from her position.

Through her lawyer, Masit had filed a petition seeking to stop the tribunal investigating the 'Cherera Four's' conduct.
