All Saints' Cathedral Provost Canon Sammy Wainaina has told off President Uhuru Kenyatta and his handshake mate, ODM Leader Raila Odinga over their Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) push.

The Very Rev Canon Wainaina, during his Sunday sermon, dismissed claims by Kenyatta and Odinga that the BBI will solve all the problems that are facing Kenyans at the moment.

The irate clergyman expressly told congregants that BBI will not solve Kenyan problems and it is only meant to benefit a few people at the top in the political circles.

“When your tribal man becomes the president or takes the 5 top seats, as per the proposal of the BBI, you will remain poor,” the Reverend said.

He added, “Ask those tribes that have produced presidents. Have they benefited from it? No. They have become poorer. Politicians have their agenda to eat and loot this country.”

Canon Wainaina went ahead to enumerate the things he feels Kenyans really need.

“What we need, we as Kenyans, are opportunities for employment, roads networks, markets for our produce, quality healthcare and quality education for every Kenyan,” Rev Wainaina added.

He also warned against the emerging class and tribal politics saying they pose the danger of splitting Kenyans along class and ethnic lines and called for urgent action to reverse the situation.

In a bare-knuckle sermon on Sunday, the Reverend Canon cited the hustler-dynasty divisions propagated by DP Ruto as a ticking time-bomb that could explode any time now if not dealt with urgently.

The Provost also took issue with President Kenyatta’s confession, during a vernacular address to his Central Kenya base, that Sh2 billion was being looted daily in his own administration.

“The president confessed the other day that Sh2 billion are lost every day. When a president confesses that Sh2 billion are lost every day, believe it. Its true. Mr President, thank you for the confession that we are all thieves, minus opportunities.

“Mr President, you have the EACC, you have the DPP, you have the NIS, yopu have all the government machinery at your disposal. Either the government knows who steals the Kenyan money or the government is part of the stealing.”

The Reverend further urged church leaders in Kenya to shut their churches to politicians, who use the pulpit and other church platforms to spew hatred to their opponents.

“Christian leaders, close your churches to politicians, you are going to destroy this country,” Rev Wainaina warned.

This comes as various churches have been entertaining top politicians who use the chance to attack and insult their opponents, with many of the clergymen receiving dubious cash in return.
