The National Police Service (NPS) through its spokesperson Bruno Shioso has issued a statement regarding the fatal shooting of the renowned Pakistani journalist Arshad Sharif.
In the statement, NPS acknowledged the bizarre incident, confirming reports that have since circulated across all media platforms.
"NPS regrets to announce an incident that occurred last night along Kwenia farm/Kamukuru marram road within Magadi, Kajiado where a foreigner national namely ARSHAD MOHAMMED SHARIFF, a Pakistan national aged 50 years was fatally wounded by a police officer while a passenger in a motor vehicle KDG 200M,” the statement read.
"At the time of the incident, deceased was in company of his brother namely KHURRAM AHMED."
The service also confirmed an angle of the story that there indeed was a stolen vehicle whose registration was in circulation from Pangani Police station and explained the circumstances under which the incident is said to have occurred.

“Incident follows a circulation from Pangani Police of a stolen motor vehicle. The officers trailing the motor vehicle towards Magadi alerted police in Magadi who erected a road barrier,” NPS said.
“Deceased's motor vehicle came upon the police barrier which they drove through. It is then that they were shot at, fatally injuring late ARSHAD MOHAMMED SHARIFF.”
The National Police Service said it regrets that unfortunate incident and affirmed that competent authorities are currently investigating the incident for appropriate action.
The service led by the acting Inspector General of Police Noor Gabow expressed their condolences to Sharif’s family and friends.
“The Ag. Inspector General on behalf of the Service condoles with the family and friends of the deceased,” the statement read.
Sharif was shot dead at a roadblock by GSU officers from Magadi Training Institute while he was in the company of his brother Kurram Ahmed and died on the spot from a hail of bullets that were sprayed on him.
