Alice Wahome, President William Ruto’s Cabinet Secretary nominee for Water, Sanitation and Irrigation has disclosed that she is currently worth Sh218 million.

During vetting by the Parliamentary Committee on Appointments on Monday, she said her wealth comes form of assets shared with her spouse and salary from the National Assembly.

Wahome revealed that she collected her pay as the MP for Kandara Constituency, rental income from some of her properties, and a Sh100,000 monthly allowance from her law firm.

“My net worth is Sh218 million and this is value of properties between myself and my husband. They are family assets. Until September I have earned a salary from parliament and been on and off practicing, though very low because as a Member of Parliament you have very little time in your hands,” said Wahome.

She added, “I get a fuel allowance of about Sh100,000 from my firm and also from these properties, which are in my name. I get about Sh500,000 a month but at the moment they do not have tenants since Covid and therefore I have no income coming from that end. I am relying on the little Sh100,000 and the MP salary."

She closed the vetting process for CS nominees in Ruto’s 22-member cabinet on the initial day before the committee spearheaded by National Assembly speaker Moses Wetangula.
