Journalist Kanze Dena has shared an emotional message as she bid farewell to State House marking the start of the tenure of the recently appointed Spokesperson Hussein Mohamed.

She said she is ready for the next chapter of her life as she paved the way for Hussein, who is her former colleague at Citizen Tv, which is owned by the Royal Media Services.

In her farewell message on her social media pages, Kanze thanked retired President Uhuru Kenyatta, her colleagues and family as she enumerated some key highlights of her career.

Her job at the House On The Hill effectively ended on October 14, 2022, after President William Ruto named Hussein, a former Citizen TV news anchor, as her replacement.

Here is her full statement dubbed “The completion of a season”:

The completion of a season.

Let me take this opportunity to thank his Excellency the retired President Uhuru Kenyatta for the opportunity to serve in His administration. Many valuable lessons I take with me.

To the Presidential Strategic Communication Unit (PSCU) team, the season would not have been successful without your support. I will always treasure you.

To all my colleagues at State House, ministries, parastatals, and stakeholders, I say thank you.

My family and friends, thank you for cheering me on and understanding when I had to disappoint because duty called. I thank you also for holding me in prayer, the fun and laughter as well as being protective (Unconditional).

How would I have done this without you ladies? Let the road trips begin. I love you all.

My parents, Harry and Jane, though you watched this season from afar, you played very great roles as your values were etched in me. Mama Zeinab too. I love you.

My children, for all the events I missed, including birthdays, thank you for understanding.

A special thank you to my husband Mr. Mararo. Thank you for the tremendous support, the constant pressure to want more and for being mum and dad most of the time. I lack words.

In conclusion, I thank God. Many times I Look back and I don't know how I did it. But one thing I know Jehova you took it over and for sure that is how I made it through. That's why I say you are Ebenezer. You and I Lord together.

New Season loading.

Kanze resigned from Citizen TV in June 2018 after being appointed the Deputy State House Spokesperson and Deputy Head of the Presidential Strategic Communication Unit (PSCU).

She would later ascend to the top to replace Manoah Esipisu in 2018 to become the first woman to be appointed State House Spokesperson and Head of PSCU in Kenya’s history.
