The Public Service Commission (PSC) has insisted that applications to fill the Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) positions are still open to interested applicants.

PSC CEO Simon Rotich, in a statement released on Friday, confirmed that the advertisement for the CAS positions had not been cancelled as widely speculated.

“Contrary to public speculation, the Commission has not cancelled the advert for recruitment of Chief Administrative Secretary,” said Rotich.

This comes a day after a Nairobi court suspended plans to create the office of Chief Administrative Secretary until a case filed by the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) is determined.

The order was granted by Employment and Labour Court judge Monica Mbaru on Wednesday.

LSK argues that the lack of clarity on the CAS office denied members of the public a chance to contribute on the possible duplication of roles between the CAS and Principal Secretary.

According to LSK, in the filed petition, such a duplication of mandates would result in the wastage of public funds in hefty salaries, allowances and other relevant expenses.

The matter will be mentioned on October 24 when the court to give directions on the hearing dates for the petition.

In a statement released on Wednesday, PSC chairman Anthony Muchiri said applicants for the CAS posts had until 5pm on October 27 to submit their documents for consideration.
