Ida Odinga’s bodyguard identified as Barrack Onyango Oduor was shot dead on Friday morning somewhere around Uzima University in the Riat area, Kisumu County.
Kisumu County Commander Alphonse Kimathi and Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition party leader Raila Odinga’s Spokesperson Dennis Onyango have confirmed the incident that occurred in the wee hours of Friday.
"Yes we have information of his being shot dead. We do not have further information as at now," Onyango said.
According to a report filed by police, the deceased was headed home from Dondez Bar & Restaurant accompanied by a man and a woman.
It is reported that the manager of a local club in Kisumu confronted the trio allegedly over the woman before a brawl ensued.

The suspect is said to have disarmed the deceased and fired his weapon twice, dealing him a fatal wound in his head and leg.
Oduor’s companions also sustained bullet wounds during the commotion and were rushed to Aga Khan Hospital for emergency treatment.
The deceased's body was moved to the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary as a manhunt was launched for the suspect who fled the scene after the incident with Oduor’s firearm.
