The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has identified an anomaly in the Kiambu County presidential election results.

IEBC commissioner Justus Nyang’aya disclosed 10,000 votes were erroneously awarded to Kenya Kwanza Alliance presidential candidate William Ruto on form 34A.

The error indicated Ruto had garnered 51,050 votes while the correct figure was 41,050.

"There was an error in form 34A which was corrected in form 34C," Nyang'aya said.

Vigilant members of the fourth estate are the ones who flagged the anomaly and brought the matter to the commission’s attention.

Furthermore, Nyang’aya noted there was another anomaly at Thindigua Primary School where Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition presidential candidate Raila Odinga got 111 votes yet only 11 were captured.

Nyang’aya affirmed the anomalies had been corrected and the factual figures entered.

He thanked the journalists for their input and bringing the matter to the commission’s attention.

"Thank you journalists for bringing this to my attention," Nyang'aya said.
