The Kenyan Government through the Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha has announced a fresh opening date for all basic education institutions

Magoha announced the new opening date in a press statement issued on Saturday.

According to Magoha the decision followed the conduct of the National Elections on Tuesday and the process of tallying ballots which is still ongoing.

"Therefore, following further consultations, I hereby convey the Government’s decision on the suspension of the re-opening of ALL Basic Education institutions with effect from Monday, 15th August, 2022 until Thursday 18th August, 2022," the statement read.

Magoha said the latest communication supersedes any earlier communication on the re-opening of basic education institutions.
