The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has dealt the Kimilili MP-elect Didmus Barasa a blow after refusing to hand over the election certificate to the fugitive MP’s representative.
This comes after Kimilili Returning Officer George Omondi maintained that Barasa had to be physically present at the tallying centre to collect the certificate.
Barasa who is playing hide and seek with the authorities went into hiding after being involved in a shooting incident that left his opponent’s aide dead after an altercation at Chebukhwabi Primary School polling station.
It is not yet clear what the altercation was all about, but matters escalated quickly and Barasa allegedly drew his weapon and shot at the aide.
The Director of Public Prosecution Noordin Haji ordered Barasa’s arrest.
