The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has invited all the presidential candidates for a consultative meeting on the voter registers.

IEBC wrote a letter to the presidential candidates inviting them to the meeting on Wednesday at the Windsor Golf Hotel and Country Club.

"The Commission invites you to a presidential candidates consultative meeting scheduled to be held on Wednesday 29th June 2022 at the Windsor Golf Hotel and Country Club from 9.00 am," the letter read.

Apart from the voter register, other matters to be discussed in the meeting include the election results path and harmonising campaign schedules for presidential candidates.

The letter also specified the number of persons who may accompany the presidential candidates to the Wednesday meeting.

"Please note that you may be accompanied to the meeting by not more than five persons,” the letter read in part.

A section of the aspirants raised concern over what will happen if IEBC’s plan to only use the digital voter identification kits fails.

However, IEBC noted that the use of the manual register was among the key contributors to malpractices experienced in the 2017 election.

Only the four cleared presidential candidates are expected to attend the meeting.

They include the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition presidential candidate Raila Odinga, Kenya Kwanza Alliance presidential candidate William Ruto, Roots Party presidential candidate George Wajackoyah and Agano party’s David Mwaure Waihiga.
