Tujibebe Party leader William Kabogo has said the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition presidential running mate Martha Karua emerges stronger than Kenya Kwanza Alliance presidential running mate Rigathi Gachagua.
Kabogo said that while speaking during an interview at a local TV station on Monday.
He said the nomination of Karua to be Raila Odinga’s running mate in the August election saw a shift in the support of Kenya Kwanza within the Mount Kenya region.
Kabogo also said the nomination of Gachagua to be William Ruto’s running mate has brought a downward shift in Ruto’s support from the region.

“The nomination of Martha Karua to be Raila Odinga’s running mate ate into Kenya Kwanza's Mt Kenya bedrock and the picking of Rigathi Gachagua as Dr Ruto running mate eroded popularity that had been won. I would say Karua took the lead by 3 or 4 per cent,” Kabogo said.
The former Kiambu Governor added that the nomination of Gachagua as Ruto’s running mate had thrown a spanner in the works in Kenya Kwanza that cannot go unnoticed.
"The nomination of Gachagua as running mate has brought a few drawbacks within Kenya Kwanza and it is something, if not said, we will not have said the truth but it is out there," Kabogo added.
Kabogo’s assertions come shortly after he criticised the UDA party and accused it of sidelining other Kenya Kwanza Alliance affiliate parties such as his own and the Moses Kuria-led Chama Cha Kazi (CCK).
