Kenya Kwanza Alliance presidential candidate William Ruto ordered journalists that were covering his Monday political event out.
Ruto held a meeting at Hugo Farm in Njoro, Nakuru County when briefly paused his speech to issue a directive to his security details to eject the members of the media out.
The Deputy President claimed they wanted to discuss important matters and asked them to leave first as he wondered why the journalists were in attendance in the first place.
“These media houses, why do we have media houses here? Who brought them here? Get out first to that we can discuss important matters. I do not want these media peoples,” Ruto directed.

Following Ruto’s ‘Media Out’ directive, members of the media were forced to brave the chilly weather for over 3 hours as the meeting continued.
This is a sharp twist of events since Ruto has in the recent past complained about his political events receiving unfair media coverage.
On March 15, 2022, during the UDA National Delegates Convention (NDC) held at the Kasarani Indoor Arena, when Ruto was crowned as the UDA flag bearer, journalists were also locked out temporarily from the event and were barred from covering part of the proceeding.
The journalists were allowed back into the arena to resume their work an hour later.
