Nairobi's gubernatorial aspirant Polycarp Igathe is sparing no efforts in ensuring he becomes the next Nairobi County boss.

Igathe has been spotted in various places popularising his gubernatorial bid and asking for residents of Nairobi to vote for him during the August election.

From tailoring shops, roasting maize, and boarding matatus to riding boda boda, Igathe has gone out to get that vote.

The most recent vote hunting venture took Igathe to Quiver Lounge, a popular entertainment joint along the Thika Superhighway in Nairobi on Friday.

In Quiver Lounge, Igathe literally became ‘the people’s servant’ after donning an apron and going around the joint taking orders and serving drinks to revellers.

Igathe said the bars, restaurants and cafés are a big creators of employment and wealth creation but have been held back by a policy environment that has not been conducive.

He promised his government will look into consolidating all business operating licenses and will support the industry.

“Nairobi has a thriving nightlife. Bars, restaurants and cafés are big creators of employment and wealth creation. They are a core part of our ecosystem and when you have thriving bars and restaurants, industries do well,” Igathe said.

“This sector has been held back by a policy environment that has not been conducive. The #IgatheKaloki Gov will look into consolidating all business operating licenses & will support this industry as we give dignity & hope to the thousands who work here.”

Igathe said his style of vote hunting moves is foreshadowing how he will serve people if he is elected as the next Nairobi governor because he values interacting with people at a personal level and people should get accustomed to that.

"People should get used to seeing me because that is how things will be even when I become governor. I will be serving you your menu, not the menu of the chef," Igathe said.
