Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala has asked Kenya Kwanza Alliance presidential candidate William Ruto to stop meddling with Kakamega politics.


Malala was speaking on Wednesday during a political rally by ANC in Kakamega, where he asked Ruto to caution his UDA party against fielding its candidates in Western Kenya.

Malala said UDA fielding candidates in Western Kenya will frustrate their efforts to bring in the 70 per cent of votes as agreed in the Kenya Kwanza pact submitted to the Registrar of Political Parties.

"You have told us to get 70 per cent of the votes so that we can get the 30 per cent share of government. That 70 per cent must also include MPs. We need our leaders for that target” Malala said.

The senator told Ruto to be satisfied with the top seats it took in the agreement and stop salivating for Western local seats.

Malala also said ANC party would also like to have leaders and that is the only way the party will be respected.

"We have respected UDA and given them top seats. Honourable William Ruto, stop being interested in our local seats. We also want ANC to have leaders as that is the only way we will have respect for each other," he said.

Malala’s sentiments were prompted by UDA’s move to field a candidate Clement Siloya for Sabatia parliamentary seat a few days ago. 

Sabatia happens to be ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi's backyard.


He emphasised that Ruto should not interfere with Western Kenya, which he termed as their bedroom because his UDA party had already bagged plum seats.

“We have given you top seats. Please don’t interfere with our bedrooms,” Malala said.
