Gideon Moi and his KANU Party have recommended Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka for the position of Raila Odinga’s running mate in the August elections.

In a letter written to the chairperson deputy president selection panel for the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition party on Thursday, KANU mentioned Kalonzo as their preferred candidate for the position.

“The Kenya National African Union (KANU) hereby proposes and submits the name of H.E HON STEPHEN KALONZO as its preferred candidate for the position of Deputy President in the forthcoming general elections,” the letter read.

KANU opined that Kalonzo is the best-suited candidate for the position of deputy president.

“It is our considered opinion and strongly believes that H.E HON STEPHEN KALONZO fits the bill and is the most suitable individual to deputize H.E RIGHT HON RAILA AMOLO ODINGA,” the letter continued.

The party further expressed its hope that the panel will find Kalonzo appropriate for the position and recommend his selection.

“It is our sincere hope that this panel will consider and find him appropriate for the position of Deputy President and consequently recommend his selection as such,” the letter read.

A section of leaders from Kalonzo’s Wiper party has been fronting him for the position and even threatened to withdraw their support for Raila if Kalonzo is not named as Raila’s running mate ahead of the August election.
