A disgruntled UDA aspirant expressed her disappointment after the party allegedly issued a direct ticket to her opponent, Millicent Omanga, without communicating to her.
The aspirant, Delvine Moraa, who had her eyes set on the Nairobi Woman Representative seat, said she will seek the intervention of the Political Parties Tribunal on Monday for directions over the matter.
Moraa and a crowd of her supporters stormed the party’s Nairobi office, demanding a fair nomination process and justice to prevail.
She alleged that word had gone around that the ticket had already been handed to someone, prompting her to find out the truth from the party offices.
However, Moraa says she did not get an audience with any of the party officials and instead resolved to write a letter to the party which apparently was not replied to.

“When I got word, I came to the party offices but could not get access to any of the part officials. I wrote a letter that was received by the party and the same has not been responded to date,” Moraa said.
According to Moraa, she became alarmed when all aspirants vying on UDA tickets received messages requiring them to submit the names of their agents on Friday.
When she reached out to the party, she was informed her name was not among those that were on the nomination list.
“On Friday, aspirants vying under UDA got messages requiring them to submit names of their agents but I did not, and that was the first red flag, again I reached out to the party and was told I am in the nomination list,” Moraa said.

On Saturday, UDA party leader William Ruto announced that nominated senator Millicent Omanga was given the direct green light to vie for the Nairobi Women Representative seat on the UDA ticket.
This was part of a negotiation in a supposed democratic process whose criteria are yet to be explained to Moraa and neither was she consulted about.
The party also decided that Bishop Margaret Wanjiru will vie for the Nairobi senatorial seat while Johnson Sakaja will vie for the Nairobi governor’s seat.
