Blogger Robert Alai has dropped out of the Nyando Parliamentary seat contest and instead opted to vie for Kileleshwa Member of County Assembly seat.

Alai took to his social media handles to announce his decision to vie for the Kileleshwa MCA’s seat on Wednesday.

He indicated he would contest for the seat on an ODM ticket.

“Over 1500 phone calls and even so many messages. I have never seen an event in my life generate so much interest. Firmly in ODM and in the race to be Kileleshwa MCA to serve the people. Ask the people of Nyayo if you want to know about,” Alai wrote.

Alai also told off his detractors who derided him that his move from the parliamentary contest to the MCA seat was a downgrade.

Instead, he said the move was actually an upgrade because in public service, being closer to the average person is an upgrade.

“If you were vying for MP and then you changed to MCA, you have upgraded and not demoted yourself. In public service, being closer to the common man is an upgrade. Don’t let your ego be bruised with chants of “umeshuka bei,” the blogger said.

“Public service is NOT an ego trip.”

A section of KOT has congratulated Alai for making the decision and has pledged their support for his political endeavours.
