Seasoned journalist Joe Ageyo has landed a plum job at Nation Media Group (NMG) just a few days after quitting Citizen TV.

Ageyo has been appointed as the Editorial Director - Broadcasting.

NMG’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Stephen Gitagama announced Ageyo’s appointment on Tuesday.

“I am pleased to announce the appointment of Joseph Ageyo (Joe) as Editorial Director - Broadcasting with effect from 1st April 2022,” the announcement partly read.

According to the announcement, Ageyo will be an integral part of the leadership team and will take part in the development and execution of the Group’s editorial strategy.

He will be in charge of the editorial functions of NMG’s broadcast operations in Kenya across multimedia platforms.

Ageyo has worked with major media houses before landing back at NMG. He once was the Editorial Director at Royal Media Services. He previously worked at KTN as Managing Editor, and at NTV as Head of News Production.

Ageyo is the holder of an MSc in Environmental Governance from the University of Manchester, Post-Graduate Diploma in Mass Communication, from the School of Journalism, University of Nairobi and Bachelor of Agribusiness Management, from Egerton University. He also holds certificates in Sustainability Management and Environment Diplomacy from the University of Tilburg, Netherlands and the University of Geneva, respectively.

Gitagama acknowledged Ageyo as a seasoned professional with a wealth of experience.

“He is a seasoned professional in journalism and brings a wealth of experience that will add great value to NMG,” Gitagama said.
