London, United Kingdom, Azimio La Umoja presidential candidate Raila Odinga on Tuesday met and held talks with UK Minister for Armed Forces James Heappey.

During the meeting at the Ministry of Defense in London, Raila spoke with Heappey on the enhancement of the long standing defense and security partnerships between Kenya and UK.

The former Prime Minister expressed his commitment to UK via the minister that under his administration, should he win the August general election, Kenya would continue with her cooperation with UK in defense and security for mutual and enhanced benefit.


Raila expressed his keenness to continue with the mutually beneficial defence ties between Nairobi and London after the August general election. 

Raila expressed interest in ensuring that Kenya and UK fully implement the Defence Cooperation Agreement (DCA) to tackle shared threats across East African.


He was accompanied by Kenya’s High Commissioner to the UK Manoah  Esipisu, Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho, Peter Kenneth and National Assembly Minority Whip Junet Mohamed. 


Kenya and the UK have enjoyed decades of military cooperation in joint efforts to tackle regional security challenges, including terrorism and Raila is keen on enhancing the cooperation under his presidency should he emerge the victor in the coming poll.
